Phillip Sampson

Phillip Sampson is an experienced South African property and immigration attorney, admitted in 2015, whose practice combines real estate law, conveyancing, property finance, immigration and fiduciary services. He advises property developers, financial institutions, estate agencies, international investors and private clients on property transactions, regulatory compliance and the legal complexities of acquiring, financing and developing property in South Africa.

As Partner and co-founder of SL Law Incorporated, Phillip brings extensive experience in residential, commercial and development property transactions, having practised in established national law firms before joining the partnership.

His property practice encompasses conveyancing, mortgage bond registrations, property development, sectional title schemes, subdivisions, consolidations, servitudes and complex property ownership arrangements. He regularly advises estate agencies, mortgage finance providers, developers and property investors, combining technical conveyancing expertise with a practical understanding of the commercial and regulatory requirements of property transactions.

A distinguishing feature of Phillip’s practice is the integration of property law, immigration and estate planning. He advises foreign nationals, expatriates and international families on South African property acquisitions alongside visa applications, residency requirements, immigration compliance and the legal implications of establishing a home or business in South Africa.

His experience extends to property finance, transactional structuring, security arrangements and the resolution of disputes arising from property transactions, including contractual disputes, evictions and High Court proceedings.

Phillip also advises on wills, trusts, deceased estate administration and succession planning, assisting clients in protecting their property interests and providing for the orderly transfer of assets between generations.

His approach is characterised by accessibility, commercial judgment and an emphasis on enduring professional relationships. Rather than treating property transfers, immigration and estate planning as separate instructions, Phillip provides coordinated legal advice that addresses the client’s broader property, financial and family objectives.

For estate agencies, mortgage lenders and property developers, this translates into responsive advice, efficient transaction management and a trusted legal relationship extending beyond registration.
